Annexation
Annexation is an illegal act of aggression under international law.
The State of Israel justified its military incursions into Gaza by pointing out that no country would allow a neighbouring territory to launch missiles across its border without reprisal.
Israel invaded and occupied the West Bank over half century ago. Since then around a half million Israeli’s have settled in this territory. Now the Israeli Government has announced its intention to take over (annex) parts of its neighbouring territory cementing these settlements into the State of Israel.
Would any country willingly allow its neighbour to take over large sections of its territory? Below you will find a selection of reactions concerning the intention to annex.
